Celebrating 30 Year Anniverery Of His Pottery.

This Potter in Mungyeong was making "souvenier" pots to thank attendees of the festival for making the 30th year anniversery of his pottery possible. I've never seen this done before. Folks were coming to the potter with folded paper and cardboard to recieve one of his wet pots to carry home as a momento.

  1. Seems like a fairly common practice in Korea.

  2. Potters were doing it at several places at the festival and people were walking around with little wet pots on a piece of paper.

  3. I've done this on occasion. nothing like seeing a child's eyes light up when you give them something they watched you make.

  5. I made "models" for my students (a dozen untrimmed yunomi forms and 12 trimmed ones.) I demoed and then they did rope impression, inlay and inlay scraping on the trimmed ones. I wanted them to experience working from an example with traditional tombo gauges.
